ElementCMS offers three different types of publishing the live GVDA website, and two different ways to initiate a publishing cycle.
Type of publishing:
Publish initiation:
Full Publish
This option publishes every page and asset in the entire site, whether they have been recently changed or not. The initial launch of the website uses this option.
Incremental Publish
All pages and assets that have changed since the last full publish or last incremental publish (including pages that contain links to pages that have been moved, for example) are published in this option.
This option is most commonly chosen as part of an automatically scheduled publishing cycle.
Priority Publish
A priority publish uses a complex algorithm to determine the absolute minimum amount of pages and assets that need to be published to accommodate the most recent changes. The system initiates the publishing of those pages immediately; thus updating the website in the least amount of time.
Automatically Scheduled Publish
Publishing of the site can be scheduled by date and time. For example, the publishing schedule could be: every 4 hours; or every night at 11:00 PM; or every Saturday at noon.
Manual Publish
Site administrators can choose to initiate an incremental or full publish at any time, even if an automated schedule has been set up. The scheduled publish will continue to function at the next interval.
Individual Pages
Individual pages can also have separate schedules so that each page can be set to appear on the site and/or be removed from live site at the next publish following a specific date and time. When removed, the source page and all links to that page within the site are also automatically removed.
